So I was on a forum earlier and up pops the question of girls and gaming. Naturally I would pay attention to it so I gave my two cents:
Most girls get all hissy over the fact that guys apparently can't accept them into their male bonding pastime. They prance around as if they should be receiving an award over doing something that's so commonly accepted nowadays. It's almost like reverse sexism.
Not only that, but they like to justify their hobby by naming every single game they've played, owned, or how long they've been playing. Why don't they do the same with basketball, golf, pool, drag racing, kick boxing, martial arts, fishing, and every other hobby that consists of 'male only' bonding?
I'm probably one of the few that detests the terms "girl gamer" and "gamer girl". You play video games, well good for you. You don't need to come up with an entire feminist movement over it. I'm pretty sure females who work in the gaming industry aren't strutting around the offices saying, "I am woman, hear me roar!" holding a controller. And if they are I'm sure her male counterparts want to secretly strangle her.
I'd like to see a support group for "boy knitters" or "boy cooks" since it's a 'female dominating' group.
And that's that.
